Mike Girata is currently a Sr. Business Analytics Analyst within NiSource’s Data Optimization and Analytics team. He focuses on building predictive models to solve financial, customer, and operational problems within the organization’s seven operating companies. Past use cases include main and service line “locatability” within pre-defined work areas, identification of drivers that lead to customers falling delinquent in their bills, and workload optimization of capital planning functions. Prior to his role at NiSource, Mike was a data science consultant at a large, multinational technology company and focused his efforts on delivering advanced analytics solutions for utility, retail, government, and manufacturing clients. Mike also helped develop and deliver a “data science boot camp” to practitioners both internal and external to his previous company. He attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics in December 2014.
